I’ve posted a lot about dating in the past month, so if you’re as sick of the topic as I am you’ll appreciate this last note. Also a few announcements.
First I want to go on record once and for all saying that women, you can make the first move. So can you, men. People all, if you like somebody you can make the first move. That said, tradition abounds and rejection sucks. So here’s a few (four, to be exact) practical suggestions for the gal who doesn’t want to make the first move and the guy who doesn’t know if he should.
- Use a friend as a liaison. S/he goes in, gives the green light, and everybody’s happy.
- Answer the question that was never asked: “I’m really busy, but I’d love to get lunch/have dinner/grab a drink sometime.”
- Invite them to a harmless event. Party, movie, whatever. It’s not an official “date,” but it says that you wouldn’t mind one.
- Say the words, “I like you now ask me out.” Just once I want someone to do this.
Also my Twitter is in full swing, @byclarkellis, for all the daily awesome I’ve got going on. And as if that’s not enough, I’ve finally set up a Facebook profile so you can be my friend! Finally, stay tuned for more Bow Tie Diaries, with a better webcam and hopefully more palatable content. Clark out.
