Just a few of the greatest things you’ll ever hear, that’s all

No amount of catchy tune can make up for poor lyrics (I’m looking at you Pharrell). These are a few of my favorite lines from some of my favorite songs by some of my favorite artists. In no particular order, and purely for your enjoyment…

Twenty One Pilots, “Migraine” from their album Vessel

Am I the only one I know waging my wars behind my face and above my throat?

The Beatles, “Across the Universe” from their album Let it Be

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup

The Wombats, “Kill the Director” from their album A Guide to Love

If this is a rom-com kill the director

Dexy’s Midnight Runners, “Come On Eileen” from their album Too-Rye-Ay

We are far too young and clever

Noah and the Whale, “2 Atoms in a Molecule” from their album Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down

If love is just a game, how come it’s no fun? If love is just a game, how come I’ve never won?

The Beatles, “Blackbird” from their White Album

All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arrive

Queen, “Bohemian Rhapsody” from their album A Night at the Opera

Mama, life had just begun and now I’ve gone and thrown it all away

Regina Spektor, “Samson” from her album Songs

The Bible didn’t mention us, not even once

Needtobreathe “Valley of Tomorrow” from their album The Outsiders

I pulled a .38 out of my bleeding heard; I killed my selfishness

Mumford and Sons, “The Boxer” from their album Babel, original by Simon and Garfunkle

I have squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles. Such are promises: all lies and jest. Still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest

Sia, “Chandelier” from her album Laeter

I’m gonna swing from the chandelier… I’m gonna live like tomorrow doesn’t exist

Fun., “The Gambler” from their album Aim and Ignite

We’ve still got 50 good years left to spend out in the garden. I don’t care to beg your pardon, we should live until we die.

Jeff Buckley, “Hallelujah” from his album Grace

Maybe there’s a God above, but all I’ve ever learned from love is how to shoot at someone who outdrew you

  1. I know that I’ve imagined love before
And how it could be with you
Will it hurt me baby, will it hurt me baby
How can you have a day without a night?
You’re the book that I have opened
And now I’ve got to know much more…

Welcome to Massive Attack’s “Unfinished Sympathy”.
(by the way, this is how I heard the song. Others have their lyrics. Either way, this song kicks ass.)

  2. I realize this is the second post I’ve commented on and it looks like I’m doing some hard core creeping but man do you have great music taste. NEEDTOBREATHE is my all time favourite band, Fun. is fantastic, Mumford and Sons, Queen, The Beatles, and Jeff Buckley are all phenomenal. Well done.
